Over the past seven years the Bonita Bay Veterans Council has made over 800 direct donations to Veterans and their families in our community, with funeral costs, medical expenses, utility bills, rent, daycare, and more. We sponsor 2 monthly “Mobile Food Pantries” at the VA in Cape Coral, where an average of 250 Veterans receive up to a two-week supply of food and necessities. Just before Christmas 2021, the BBVC was able to reunite a WWII Veteran with his beloved wife by arranging for a medical transport to bring him from Tampa back to Bonita Springs. We have partnered with FGCU, and Bonita Springs and Estero High Schools, to offer scholarships to deserving veterans and children of veterans. Additionally, we have partnered with Golden Paws and the FGCU’s Veterans Entrepreneurial Program. In total we have positively impacted over 7,000 Veterans and their families. In April 2017, Governor Rick Scott presented the “Florida State Service Medal” to members of the Bonita Bay Veterans Council, in honor of our accomplishments. Over 98% of the money collected goes directly to Veterans.
